Reading and phonics
At Bardney Church of England and Methodist Primary School, we love reading and believe that reading 'opens the door' to learning, imagination and life in all its fullness (John 10:10). Rooted in our Christian values, we nurture fluent readers who are curious, confident and compassionate - children who not only 'read to learn' but explore meaning, connect with others and grow as individuals.
We teach reading through Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised, which is a systematic and synthetic phonics programme.
The resources on this website below will help you support your child with saying their sounds and writing their letters. There are also some useful videos so you can see how they are taught at school and feel confident about supporting their reading at home.
