Curriculum Vision

  • To provide children with a rich, diverse and purposefully sequenced curriculum where they can build key geographical skills and build cumulative substantive knowledge.
  • Develop locational and place skills
  • Develop disciplinary knowledge in physical and human geography by studying a wide range of geographical features in the UK and around the world, deepening their understanding as they progress though the school.
  • Plan the use technology where appropriate to enrich the curriculum and deepen understanding of key concepts.
  • Where appropriate, plan the use of visits, trips and visitors to enrich the curriculum, provide opportunities children may not have access to otherwise and deepen understanding for all pupils.
  • The curriculum plans are structured in a way pupils encounter new ‘big ideas’ and concepts regularly throughout each year group, and have the opportunity to revisit them in different contexts. These concepts include (but aren’t limited to) migration, sustainability, interdependence, place and location, physical features, trade and economy.
